This garden stands upon the life’s work of one person who devoted more than sixty years to cultivating it in harmony with nature, never giving up. The spirit of reflection found here is not born from theory, but from a life lived, discovered through the garden, and carried back into everyday life. Spirited Garden does not offer

ready-made answers. Instead, it invites you to reconnect with yourself through nature, reflect on your life, and regain the strength to move forward with renewed clarity and purpose. For this reason, Spirited Garden aspires to be more than a beautiful landscape. It is a living cultural

heritage where people return to themselves.

Since 1968, Spirited Garden has been meticulously developed by farmer Sung Bum-yeong, who transformed barren land in Jeoji-ri, Hangyeong-myeon, Jeju, into a 43,000㎡ estate with eight distinct gardens. The garden features traditional Korean trees, bonsai, unusual stones, and viewing stones, all arranged across the Grass Square and volcanic peaks. Massive hand-crafted volcanic stones, stone walls, and a stone gate, along with cascading waterfalls and ponds, harmonize with natural stone structures, showcasing the unique beauty of Korean gardens and reflecting Jeju’s natural elegance.

Kim Moon-chul, a specialist in urban greenery, dedicated 35 years as a public official in Seoul, overseeing the creation and management of parks and green spaces. He retired from public service and visited Spirited Garden for the first time on May 5, 2022 (Children’s Day).
